Stewardship
Lord God,
We pause in this moment to give You worthy recognition
For Your supreme sovereignty over all things.
We offer both acknowledgment and gratitude
For Your attentive, providential love and care
That You extend to us each day.
We seek You today, God,
In both our abundance and our vulnerability,
So that we may more clearly witness Your work
In the places where You have established us.
May the relationships within the neighborhoods
Where we live, work, worship, and gather,
Help us recognize how easily we can overlook
The opportunities placed before us
To notice and respond to the needs of our neighbors.
Fix our hearts toward love and attentiveness.
Teach us to steward with wisdom
The resources, relationships, influence, and opportunities
You have entrusted to us,
Whether they appear significant or small.
May our faith become visible
Through generosity, hospitality, and compassion,
And be seen in the responsible care for those around us.
God, grant us wisdom to steward what You place in our hands,
Generosity to release what You call us to give,
And love that causes us to see the flourishing of our neighbors
As connected to our own.
May our homes and businesses,
Communities and churches, investments and institutions,
All be instruments of stewardship and care
In the neighborhoods where You have planted us.
