Father and Creator of the Cosmos,
Who was before all that is,
And holds all that is to come.
May stars
In the dark sky
Reframe our worship,
Reorient our perspective,
And guide us to remember rightly Your arrival.
May stars
Brilliantly illuminating the grandeur of the galaxy,
And the mysteries of the cosmos,
Reform our wonder and worship of Your glory.
May stars
Whose light began before our lifespan,
Ground our shared humanity in greater humility
And all our efforts in the light of eternity.
May stars
Constantly and quietly remind us
It was foreigners and strangers
Who faithfully followed to find You.
May stars
Whose light generously shines
On every neighbor and neighborhood
Be our guide to seek You and see You there.
Amen.
Other prayers to engage with place…
Father in Heaven,
Creator of all that is,
All that has been,
All that will ever be.
May we become more attuned to the history
And beautiful layers of life
That existed in this geography before us.
May we have a holy curiosity about this place:
Where our home was built,
Where our family sleeps,
And where we eat our daily meals.
Creator and Good Shepherd,
You made the creatures we tend and the ground beneath their feet.
Before they belonged to our farms, businesses, or tables,
they belonged to You.
Lord God,
We pause in this moment to give You worthy recognition
For Your supreme sovereignty over all things.
We offer both acknowledgment and gratitude
For Your attentive, providential love and care
That You extend to us each day.
Father in Heaven,
With August’s arrival,
The morning sunlight beams
Come later through the windows.
May we rest in your great faithfulness,
Remember that your steadfast love never ceases;
And Your mercies never come to an end.
Before you pulled us from the dust,
Before there was dust,
You spoke into the primordial stew,
And drew the waters back
To craft dry land.
Father in Heaven,
Sleeping under the stars,
beneath this wide and holy canopy,
may we be filled with wonder.
