Shannon Thomas

In January 2023, Shannon began sketching flowers in her journal and dabbling in watercolors. She had yet to take an art class, but art was a way to express herself, play, and take her creative side more seriously. Shannon's kitchen counters quickly became cluttered with art from her newfound love. She started casually sharing her art online and the response was surprising and incredible. Others wanted to purchase her pieces and began requesting commissions. Shanon Allyne Art was born in 2023, and today she remains focused on creating paintings coupled with writing that inspires and transforms its viewers. Shannon is married to Matt, and they have 4 children and reside in Evergreen, Colorado.

    This series ponders and savors all the places that God might be near to humans, but in which humans are unaware of his inveloping love. The Psalmist refers to God knitting children together in their mother's womb - implying an intentional presence. Womb invites the viewer to ponder what it might have been like if God's love was indeed present, inveloping, and active in one's earliest days of life in the womb. What if we were never without Divine Love being as close to us as our very own breath, what if we've never been alone.

    This painting has two colors as the base, and both reflect my mother and me.

    There is a pale pink that is seen poking through the myriad of colors at various places. This pale pink reflects my sweet and whole love for my mother. There was never a break, or an offense in our relationship. she was a good mother who I enjoyed being raised by. The other color at the base of this painting is a burnt orange brown and it reflects the red dirt of Longview, Texas where my mother grew up. It reflects her simple and rural upbringing that stayed with her for her whole life. She was not amused with things, and never needed to fill her life with luxury.

    She was a kind of ‘salt of the earth’ kind of woman. I will remain grateful for her influence all the days of my life.
